This unspoilt mountain town, with a population of 6 500, is located about kilometres northeast of Bolzano, in the heart of the South Tyrol Dolomites. The destination is known to host every year in October, for three days, the Spatzenfest, a festival of folk music taking place under a giant tent and attracts close to 50 000 spectators. Here agrotourism is well developed and the good tables that honour local products attract the greedy. This small village has a very long history, as evidenced by its beautiful houses decorated with frescoes, very typical of the region, its castle and the ruins of its Roman fortifications. In the heart of the city, on a charming little square, you will see a fountain and decorated facades. On holidays and on Sundays, it is not uncommon to see people dressed in traditional costumes. From the village, in a few minutes, you can reach the Téléphérique mountain (1 486 m), which is the starting point for many walks. In winter, the Marinzen ski trail, which ends at the foot of the village, is one of the very few to remain open for night runs, 3 nights a week.
