Facing the town of Verrès and its austere square tower, the village of Issogne has developed on the reverse side around its late medieval castle, the main attraction of the town. Indeed, only 1300 souls live here. The most important residence of the de Challant family, the manor house is the exact opposite of the one in Verrès: on the outside, it does not look like much, but inside, full of artistic beauties, it is probably the most beautiful of all the castles in the area. The structure has welcomed illustrious guests such as the Holy Roman Emperor Sigismund of Luxembourg and the French King Charles VIII.
