The village of Agia Fotini is located about 30 km south of Rethymnon and sits at 483 m above sea level at the beginning of the Amari Valley. Clinging to a ridge, Agia Fotini offers a view of the valley, with Mount Psiloritis in the background. The village was inhabited in the 1950s and has since developed thanks to its geographical location. Today, it has all the necessary amenities for a peaceful stay or a supply route to the neighboring villages of the valley and those along the Libyan Sea. The current church of the village was built on the ruins of the old chapel dedicated to Agia Fotini.
