Turning right from Agia Fotini, Meronas is the first village you will meet. Two taverns hide under imposing plane trees, one of which, near a generous fountain, is run by three energetic women. The coolness of the place is welcome in the heat. Look at the announcements in the bar window: traditional music concerts are held regularly. Atmosphere guaranteed. The church of Panaghia, after the memorial, on the left, has frescoes dating back to 1339 and an icon of the Virgin Mary which is one of the oldest in Crete.
