Travel Guide Elafonissi

Elafonissi is at the end of the road, at the end of the world, at the southwestern tip of Crete, and it is one of the most photographed beaches of the island (we understand why). An exceptional natural site that tour operators have unfortunately spotted: in season, the site is invaded! The peninsula is particularly attractive with its sandy beach with pink reflections due to mother-of-pearl particles (endangered though). The turquoise water and the white sand beach are reminiscent of a Polynesian lagoon. The beach is organized: straw huts offer drinks, ice creams, sweet and savory pastries, beers, and deckchairs with umbrellas (10 € per day), cabins to change clothes, toilets... Try to go there early in the morning or late in the day to find some peace and quiet in high season.
