Until a few years ago, when parts of Crete had already opened up to tourism, Bali remained a peaceful fishing port on the north coast, set in a spectacular natural setting. The proximity of Rethymnon (38 km) and Heraklion (51 km) could not leave this place isolated. And, in a very short time, Bali became a seaside resort attracting more and more people to large beachfront hotels. The site is organized around a succession of three small bays (Paradise Beach, Kyma Beach and Bali Beach) with the close and spectacular presence of the mountains in the background. To the north-east, a coastal path leads to the superb beach of Evita. In the Turkish language, bali means "honey". Travellers here enjoy water sports. The more courageous can tackle the mountainous hinterland on foot! Bali is situated below the Heraklion-Rethymnon road and therefore benefits from the bus traffic between these two big cities. Several stops follow one another on the road.
