From Sfinari to Kefali, the road winds up along the coast. The view is superb, the vegetation changing, with a succession of small villages clinging to the side of the mountain, like the village of Kambos for example, literally clinging to the cliff overlooking the sea. Below, long and difficult roads lead to the sea. The small beaches you will find there are not particularly attractive (except that they are mostly deserted) and windy. So they are not worth the effort. Kefali, before arriving at the crossroads of the road that goes down to Elafonissi, is a typical Cretan village perched on the mountain from where you have a magnificent view of the valley towards Elafonissi. It is the ideal place to stop, have a drink or spend a night. Some grocery stores and kafeneia on the spot. Most of the houses were built in the Venetian period, as well as the small chapel Sotiros Christu not to be missed, located in the cemetery, which offers beautiful frescoes of the 14th century.
