The small Minoan site of Agia Triada is located 3 kilometers west of Phaestos. The main palace is much smaller than those of Knossos, Phaestos and Malia, but it follows the same architectural principles. Thanks to the objects found on site, archaeologists have been able to attest that it was a royal residence, probably a summer palace of the monarchs of Phaestos. Around the palace, the remains of Minoan houses have been unearthed. Most of the objects found, including beautiful sarcophagi, are now on display at the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion. For those who like to walk, we recommend the Agia Triada-Phaestos route on foot to get an idea of life at the time, when both sites were occupied by a Minoan courtyard.
