Schillersdorf is a pretty village in Hanau County with a population of 450 today. The origin of its name comes from Schilter, which means village on the hill. Its charming half-timbered houses bear many architectural testimonies of the Lutheran religious tradition of the town, and many biblical allusions can be noted when walking the streets of the village: to the columns of Solomon's temple above the lintels of the entrance doors, to the tables of the Law by the shape of the windows and shutters, representation of the sun on the wooden doors to remind us that "the light was", trilobed tulips engraved on the ashlar stones, evocations of the trinity...
