This pretty village is known for celebrating the spring equinox, a pagan solar festival, by throwing flaming discs, or Schieweschlawe. At nightfall, the inhabitants go up to the Schiewebarri, a bonfire is lit and a small wooden disc with a central hole is fixed on a flexible stick. The disc is plunged into the embers. The thrower makes a few reels, moves to a stone inclined towards the valley, and hits the disc on the springboard, so that the wooden disc comes off and makes a bright trajectory in the night sky. By throwing high and far, one is sure to have gained the favor of the gods.
