Approximately 25,000 inhabitants. The main city of Slovenian Istria is also an important industrial and port city. The old town centre is well worth a visit: Titov Trg is indeed a fabulous concentration of Venetian architecture! Today, the city is still very clearly polyglot and the meeting of the Latin and Slavic worlds continues. The Italian minority also has a representative in Parliament and the Italian flag is flown alongside the Slovenian flag at the town hall. Koper is now looking to compete with Trieste and Rijeka. It seeks to be at the forefront of the new Silk Roads. With more or less success!
