Town of around 3,000 inhabitants. Slovenians like to come here for the weekend for its coastal atmosphere. This coastal tourist town is best known for its thermal baths, casinos and large sandy beach - a rarity on this coastline. Hotels and boutiques have sprung up very quickly, with tourists flocking all along Obala, the central road to the seaside. Portorož is and remains worldly, the city of long days. If sunbathing, slot machines and summer frenzy aren't your thing, head further south to the old salt flats. You can count the number of strays on one hand.
