The Hellenistic monuments of Istria's capital, the amphitheatre and small theater, the temple of Augustus, the forum and the triumphal arch, bear witness to its grandeur under the Empire. Much remains to be seen of later historical periods, too: medieval fortresses and churches, the cathedral-campanile, classical buildings, museums, the seafront promenade... During the summer vacations, the beaches with beach bars (Stoja Beach, Verudela, Stoja, Valkane, Ciklonska plaza), Galebove Bay (cliff, grotto), the coves, the marina, Brioni National Park, concerts and festivals attract increasing numbers of visitors.
