It is an old fishing village in the north of the island. The French had established their base camp there and brought the road with them. Today you can see the line of the old road. Ponta Delgada was for a long time famous for its seaweed exported all over the world. This work required diving, pulling out the seaweed, and climbing up the cliffside more than a hundred steps, the back bent by the weight of the booty. The church of São Pedro (1766) presents a baroque architecture strange enough to be worth seeing and visiting, before continuing towards one of the most remarkable lighthouses of the island...
