Located halfway between Ponta Delgada and Lagoa, this town boasts a pretty little center. Primarily residential, the town can be explored fairly quickly. Along the way, you'll come across chapels, churches and magnificent azulejos, if you're lucky enough to get into some of them. A former citrus-growing mecca, many sumptuous mansions were built in the first half of the 19th century. Like Fajã de Baixo, Livramento is peaceful and offers some excellent accommodation options. It is also close to Praia do Pópulo, arguably the most beautiful beach on this part of the coast.
