The first view of this village can be had from the Miradouro do Pisão, on the main road leading to Ponta Delgada; the panorama is interesting on the south coast, the islet of Vila Franca and Caloura below with its natural swimming pool, very popular in summer, in the front part of the mole. Caloura, a small traditional fishing port, is located in a pleasant area, protected by a high cliff covered with vegetation, in the middle of vineyards surrounded by currais, black walls of basalt stone. The area is famous for its cheiro wine. Some beautiful araucarias invite us to enter the church of Nossa Senhora das Dores.
