If the village currently has 320 inhabitants, they were up to 600 in the past. And the old village had up to 75 shoemakers, a local speciality in its time. Then the village experienced an exodus and in the early 1970s, it had just over 200 inhabitants. Since then, the trend has been reversed. In the heart of the Baronnies provençales Regional Nature Park, Sahune is a charming village appreciated by tourists who love nature and authenticity. Located in the hollow of the Eygues valley, protected in its setting of medium mountains, it benefits from a microclimate with a sweetness reminiscent of that of Nyons. It is dominated to the east by the famous Bramard Rock, known as the sphinx-headed mountain, which seems to watch over the Sahunans. The remains of the old village, renovated by volunteers from a local association, bear witness to the rich Saharan history. In addition to this peaceful living environment, Sahune benefits from a rich and varied local and associative life. The village has about fifteen associations, about ten small shops and craftsmen, as well as a house called services with the Post Office, the tourist office, a digital public space. As the seat of the Baronnies provençales regional nature park, the Sahune territory is home to a wild tulip, with a pretty bright yellow bloom, among the protected species of the territory.
