Gordes, classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France, is without doubt the most delicate pearl of the Luberon. As soon as you arrive in the village, you are caught by a breathtaking postcard: dry stone houses, arranged in restanques, dominated by an imposing Renaissance castle. Inside the village, narrow cobbled streets weave their way through the houses where you can discover vaults, cellars, old doors and gardens. Gordes was a stronghold of the Vordenses, a Celto-Ligurian tribe which gave it its name, with the custom of transforming the initial V into a G (Gordenses) in Gallo-Roman times.
