Overlooking the Ouvèze valley, the village clings to the hillside. The discovery of vestiges in the latter, shows that Rasteau was a well-to-do residential place in Roman times. A burial place with rich furniture was thus discovered with various objects nowadays exposed in the Calvet Museum in Avignon. In the Middle Ages, Bishop Pierre II of Mirabel was its spiritual and temporal lord (1009). The estate passed into papal possession in 1274. In the 18th century, Mademoiselle de l'Apparent bequeathed to the commune a large piece of land that she wanted to reserve for children's games. Take a hike to discover the vineyard
