Only a few kilometres from Montélimar, on the other side of the Rhône, Meysse, with its 1,300 inhabitants, sees the ViaRhôna and the La Payre greenway pass through. This village of character, made up of white pebbles and black basalt, houses a Romanesque jewel with the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste and has the particularity of having two churches, the other being more recent, built in the 19th century outside the village walls. The medieval church houses an octagonal baptistery where baptism by immersion was practiced, a religious work that has become rare. In a very different register, the municipality partly houses the Cruas nuclear power plant. For a long time, the town housed one of the largest flea markets in France, the 4-cent flea market, at the end of the village, in the direction of Privas, which covered 10,000 m², and which has now closed. Several medieval houses can be admired in the village, including the Miraval House and its coat of arms. You can walk along the banks of the Lavèzon and in the national forest of Barrès, which offers a remarkable view of the Rhône valley. Other attractions: 3 fishing lakes, marked hiking trails, 2 picnic areas, two restaurants, all food shops and a Sunday morning market.
