Among the most beautiful villages in France, Mirmande was almost lost, or at least deserted. By falling under its spell at the end of the 1920s and settling there, the painter and art writer André Lhote was at the origin of its rebirth. Another celebrity left his mark on the village: Haroun Tazieff, who was its mayor from 1979 to 1989. A very steep alley leads to the top of this medieval village and to the church of Sainte-Foy (12th century). Walking along the pretty cobbled streets, in the shade of hackberry, mulberry and other fig trees, you can admire the beautiful restored houses, the remains of the ramparts and the craftsmen's shops.
