Separated from Mâcon by the Saône, Saint-Laurent offers its visitors the most pleasant river banks - it is called "l'île de la Réjouissance" - and a magnificent medieval bridge. The town developed around the abbey Saint-Lorent oultre le Pont founded in the 6th century and the stone bridge built by the bishops of Macon in the 11th century (listed as a historical monument since 1987). To see, the church Saint-Laurent neo-Gothic style and the superb organ classified as a historical monument for the sound. One of the original features of Saint-Laurent is the very small size of its municipal territory: only 0.53 km2!
