On this side of the Saône, in the Ain department, the commune of Replonges faces Mâcon. Along the river, the banks are a calm and restful place to walk, offering a few beautiful stops. Around it is a vast meadow, whose ownership and use have marked the history of Replonges over the centuries. This flooded meadow is still subject to an ancestral practice, "la vaine pâture", i.e. land that is not exploited and where animals can roam freely. Classified as a Natura 2000 zone, it is home to remarkable fauna - corncrake, curlew... - and a flora specific to wetlands.
