(Nogent-sur-Oise) Until the beginning of the th century, the village was named Nogent-les-Virgins in honour of its two chapels, Moorish and Brigide. According to the legend, these twins, daughters of a king of Scotland, sailed for Rome and Jerusalem. On the way back, they were attacked and killed by robbers in Balagny-sur-Thérain. In the th century, Queen Bathilde decided to carry the relics of holy people in the abbey of Chelles (now in Seine-et-Marne). But, arriving at Nogent, the horse refused to cross the Oise and the village bells began to ring alone. So the relics remained in Nogent.
