Located just 9 kilometers from Boulogne-sur-Mer and not far from Calais, Ambleteuse is a small fishing village typical of the Côte d'Opale. Its Belle Époque bathers' houses line the seafront, alongside traditional fishermen's cottages. Close to the mouth of the Slack, the village is home to a particularly rich plant biodiversity. At the mouth of the Slack, at the end of the pebble beach, stands the majestic Fort Mahon (built under Louis XIV by Vauban), a listed historic monument open to visitors. There are no sandy beaches, restaurants or shops on the seafront.
