The parish of Séniergues dates back to the early 12th century. Around 1291, King Edward I of England decided to establish a bastide. The Middle Ages were eventful for the commune: land was sold, given away and exchanged. Marriages and wars shaped the history of the great families who made Séniergues a rather wealthy land. After the French Revolution, the commune became part of Montfaucon, and it wasn't until 1932 that each commune regained its independence. During the Second World War, Noël Poujade, Séniergues' first independent mayor, organized the resistance in the area. He was shot by the Germans in 44.
