It would appear that a monastery existed at Ginouillac in 627. No one can attest to its exact location. Three saints are said to have taken the religious habit there: Saint Cyprien, Saint Aman and Saint Sones. In the church of Saint-Étienne de Ginouillac is a 16th-century polychrome stone Virgin of Piety. The village itself is fairly typical of this region of the Lot. The other curiosity in the commune is a bent dolmen that is very unusual in the department. Known as the Cloups dolmen, it is much appreciated by enthusiasts and remains a very impressive construction. Château de Ginouillac is privately owned, but a lovely sight to behold.
