Although there are no remains, the town already existed in Celtic times. The medieval era will leave many traces, surely because of the influence of the city at that time. It was, indeed, an episcopal property and it was frequent that the bishops of Rodez stayed there. Guillaume de la Tour built a castle in the 15th century, the castle of Larguiès (less than 2 km from Salles-Curan), of which a very beautiful carved door remains (in summer a guided tour outside is possible). The church also dates from the 15th century, but was embellished in the 16th. Its portal and a font are in the Romanesque style.
