Brousse-le-Château is a medieval village classified as one of France's Most Beautiful Villages. It is located 50 kilometers from Rodez, at the junction of the Tarn and Alrance rivers. The village is reached by an old Romanesque-Gothic bridge, listed as a Monument Historique. Its narrow, cobbled streets lead to numerous characterful houses, a charming little church painted from wall to ceiling, and a feudal castle dating back to the Middle Ages, built in the 9th century on a rocky outcrop and belonging to the Counts of Rodez and the d'Arpajon family. All that remains of this period is the fortified enclosure, the walkways and its five defensive towers.
