Situated between the Petite Camargue and the marshes, Vauvert has a very appealing wild side. This corner of greenery offers a peaceful interlude for holidaymakers wishing to discover the Camargue at their own pace. The town had its heyday in the Middle Ages with a sanctuary dedicated to Notre-Dame. Today, Vauvert owes its economic renown to Saint-Mamet, a well-known canned fruit cooperative, and its Costières wine. The town's bullfighting traditions are of great importance, as is the Scamandre Nature Reserve, an outstanding example of the Camargue's biodiversity. A lovely stopover in the Gard!
