A thousand-year-old town and capital of the southern Cévennes, Le Vigan spreads its gentle way of life along medieval streets, fountains and gardens, at the entrance to the Cévennes National Park and in the Arre valley, in the shadow of Mont Aigoual. It's a pleasant place to wander, following in the footsteps of the famous men who were born here, or those of a rich industrial and cultural history, from the sericultural epic that began in the 17thcentury to the success of Well tights. Le Vigan also boasts its own AOC products: pommes reinettes du Vigan, sweet Cévennes onions and the famous pélardon, a small, very tasty goat's cheese.
