An oasis in the middle of the garrigues, nestling at the foot of Pic Saint-Loup, this village with its intimate streets hidden behind a first wall grew up around its church dedicated to Saint-Martin. In 1088, the village's original church was donated to the Gellone abbey, which had a church built in its place, more in keeping with the power of their abbey. After restoration, the village has regained its medieval appearance, with its arcades, narrow streets and the remains of its ramparts. The clock tower, symbol of the village, dates back to the second fortification period (15th c.). A number of fine 16th- and 18th-century houses have survived.
