Located in the heart of the Versailles plain, Rennemoulin is irrigated by the Ru de Gally, which crosses it from east to west. The village takes its name from the ru's water mills, particularly the Moulin Areine. All that remains of the Saint-Nicolas priory, once the heart of the village, is the chapel. The chapel was desecrated in 1793 as a result of the French Revolution, and its bell cast into a cannon. In 1919, the Pasteur Institute acquired the estate to house animals for medical research, and the chapel was used as a barn. It was bought by the commune in 2018 to become an auditorium.
