The village is aptly named, with forests covering 88% of its territory, which is also crossed by the Guesle river and dotted with ponds. It attracts walkers, cyclists and horse riders. In the 10th century, the land belonged to the domain of Hugues Capet. After various owners, it passed into the hands of Regnault d'Angennes, Lord of Rambouillet. In 1170, a priory was built at Les Moulineaux. In 1588, Charles d'Angennes obtained the benefices, before his descendants ceded the abbey and castellany in 1706 to the Count of Toulouse, son of Louis XIV. In the 19th century, the village tried to industrialize, leaving the castle and abbey in ruins.
