Guerville lies on the left bank of the Seine, around 7 km southeast of Mantes-la-Jolie. It has been inhabited since Neolithic times, as evidenced by the discovery of a megalithic burial site (destroyed in the 19th century) and a lime kiln. Traces of the presence of the Gallic Carnutes people have also been unearthed. The commune comprises two hamlets: La Plagne to the north, and Le Fresnel and Senneville to the east. It's in the latter that the ru of the same name begins to undulate the Mantois plateau, before flowing into the Seine at Mantes-la-Ville. The area is home to a chalk quarry classified as "Natura 2000".
