The origins of the strange name of this village would come from his boss, Saint Martin: Domus Martinus reportedly donated Dampmartin, then Dammartin. As for Serve, the term has just sylva, the forest; name of the region, he was connected to Dammartin in 1881, at the time of the creation of the local post office. The village was probably populated from the Gallo era, as shown by the stones erected along the ru of Ouville. In the territory of the commune, axes and instruments in silex have also been found. In the Middle Ages, the land belonged to the Lord of Montchauvet, who gave them to the mighty abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in the th century. In the th century, a monastery was founded, which will become the abbey of Dammartin, around which the village was built. Louis XII allowed the Abbey monks in 1512 to establish a market in the commune, which was the cause of a real economic boom. Two fairs were also created. Today, the commune covers almost 14 km 2 and has a population of 1 055.
