It is assumed that Isles-les-Villenoy already existed in Merovingian times, and that Charles le Simple (879-929) had a castle there. Under the Ancien Régime, the village came under the seigniory of the Comte de la Motte-Geffard. But it wasn't until 1839, with the construction of a toll bridge over the Marne, that it took on real importance as a crossing point. In the 19th century, several pleasure homes were built here. It has to be said that the area is not lacking in charm, between the banks of the Canal de l'Ourcq, the river Marne and the Pont d'Esbly, built by Eugène Freyssinet between 1948 and 1949 and listed as a Monument Historique.
