Précy-sur-Marne nestles in a unique canal-side landscape, in a wide meander of the Marne River known as the Boucle de Jablines, which has been inhabited since prehistoric times. In the Middle Ages, Précy-sur-Marne became a parish attached to the bishopric of Meaux, and remained so until the 16th century. Agriculture and stone and sand extraction were for a long time the main economic activities of this peaceful village. Today, its historic mill, known as the Decollogne mill, still produces fine stone-ground flour. Finally, it was in Précy-sur-Marne that the famous Barbara settled down in 1973 with her piano, hidden from view..
