The village of Jablines may be known for its leisure island, which it shares with the commune of Annet-sur-Marne, but there's no doubt about its ancient origins. Its name, derived from "petite javelle" (i.e. sheaf of hay, bundle of wheat or wicker), bears witness to a distant agricultural past. As for its architectural heritage, it's worth mentioning the church of Saint-Sidoine, built from the 11th century onwards and said to have been consecrated by Saint Thomas Beckett, Archbishop of Canterbury (12th century). Last but not least, the village of Jablines is known for having yielded important Neolithic remains discovered prior to the construction of a TGV line.
