Montévrain takes its name from Father Evrin, an 11th-century monk. But the area was already inhabited in Neolithic times. The town's history is closely linked to the Marne. Jeanne d'Arc is said to have used a bridge here to cross the Ru de Bicheret and reach Lagny-sur-Marne. The bridge, now known as the Pont Jeanne d'Arc, was once used to reach Meaux, Melun, Coulommiers and Provins. Other sites of interest include the 16th-century Corbins farm, acquired by the municipality in 2019, the 11th- and 13th-century Saint-Rémi church and the Quincangrogne mill, said to have been a hunting lodge for Henri IV and now owned by the RATP.
