A 13th century bastide fortified in the 14th century, Cadillac borders the right bank of the Garonne about thirty kilometres south of Bordeaux. The town was founded in 1280 by Jean de Grailly. Of its 14th-century fortifications, it retains some fine remains, as well as its intramural plan cut into rectangular blocks. The best is still to leave your car along the ramparts to go around the city on foot thanks to the guide on sale at the tourist office, without forgetting to pay a visit to the beautiful castle of the Dukes of Epernon afterwards. Moreover, the Cadillac vineyard produces a famous wine that you would be wrong not to discover.
