This seaside resort in the municipality of La Teste-de-Buch was founded in the 1920s by Daniel Meller. It is famous for its magnificent Basque-Landais style villas, built by the entrepreneur Louis Gaume. One of the most photographed is undoubtedly the Villa Téthys (14, avenue de la Plage), in Art Deco style, built in 1927 by the architect Roger Expert. From the beach you can see the bas-relief of the sea goddess. Take the opportunity to walk along the beach in the direction of the dune, you will then discover many villas scattered among the pine trees. But Pyla-sur-Mer owes its fame above all to the famous Dune du Pilat, the first site visited in Aquitaine and accessible all year round. The inhabitants are the Pylates.
