Known since prehistoric times, the site boasts a cave at Missoivet, as well as some remains at Campo-Console. Oletta still bears the traces of its rich past, due to the silver mines that can still be seen in the surrounding area, and has retained its authentic character, with high-fronted houses overlooking the Gulf of Saint-Florent. In the village, the church of Saint-André was built in the 18th century, and its fine Baroque architecture has earned it a place on the Monuments Historiques list. Many chapels can be seen in the surrounding area, some of them integrated into the houses, like the rare remains of the old church.
