4 km from Chinon, Cinais is a picturesque village of about 500 inhabitants, punctuated by the bells of its church Saint-Hilaire which was financed, in its time, by the inhabitants. The village is crossed by the "rue des Palmiers", where palm trees are indeed standing, giving a little exotic touch to Cinais. The village restaurant bears his name. The other business of Cinais is its bakery Aux saveurs du pain. The Petit cinaisein, a municipal publication, and the town hall's website keep you informed of the house sales and other local events that regularly enliven this dynamic village. Former fief belonging to the abbey of Seuilly, Cinais shelters a particularly rich heritage. While walking around, you can see sundials on the facade. Even more remarkable, in the rue du Colombier, you will discover a remarkable troglodytic dovecote built on the face of a former tufa quarry under which cellars were dug in the 16th century. On Rue des Palmiers, a house has another troglodytic dovecote. Several private manors testify to the importance of Cinais in history. On the plateau overlooking the village, the commune has a natural site called the Roman camp where standing stones evoke the remains of an ancient oppidum. There is also a beautiful view of the Royal Fortress of Chinon from the Moulin Tour, near the cemetery.
