Situated on the banks of the Vienne River and on the edge of the Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Nature Park, the small town of Richelieu owes its name and its existence to Cardinal Richelieu. At the time, he was the minister of Louis XIII and was authorized to build a town surrounded by walls and ditches and equipped with a market hall. Its residents were exempted from charges and taxes. The symmetrical and squared structure of the city gives it a beautiful harmony. The charm of its many private mansions is also present. A part of the cardinal's art collection is presented in the Richelieu museum. Take the time to stroll in the immense park of the city.
