It is one of the least populated villages in the Chinon Vienne et Loire community of municipalities. Its main attraction and what it is known for is its "boule de fort" game room completed by a museum dedicated to this local, historical and original sport. Lerné also has an associative café. The territory was home to several castles and remains of this prestigious era of many noble houses or fortified farms including that of La Bourie which gives its cachet to the village. If the castle of Maulévrier is still standing, there are only vestiges of the castle of Chavigny, as well as that of Cessigny. You can find several gîtes in Lerné.
