Les Epesses is famous for the Puy-du-Fou. Let's go back to the history. In 1050, Benedictine monks from Vézelay established a priory in Les Epesses. In 1103, the church is probably the chapel of the priory. Pope Pascal II recognized it as belonging to the abbey of Vézelay. At the end of the 15th century, it was rebuilt by the lords of Puy-du-Fou and enlarged in the 17th century. At the beginning of the Middle Ages, they lived in their first castle near Bourg-Bérard. At the beginning of the 15th century, they rebuilt a new castle, enlarged and embellished during the Renaissance. Partly destroyed during the Revolution, it is since 1978, the theater of a cinéscénique show.
