MAISON GRIMAUD

Patisserie
4.7/5
3 reviews

Just a few steps from the Place Royale and its fountain, Maison Grimaud proudly displays its know-how: "the art of choux pastry". The idea may seem surprising, but once you've tried it, you'll find it most appealing. The charm is quickly felt in this contemporary space where light and space have been privileged. Sofas, benches and small armchairs await you. Maison Grimaud is two rooms located on either side of an entrance in which you will discover the many cabbages to taste. Here, we come to enjoy the creations of Sébastien Grimaud, young and talented pastry chef, and his team. At lunchtime, Maison Grimaud offers sweet and savory dishes. At lunchtime, there is a nice choice of revisited gougères, accompanied by raw vegetables or soup. Generous bowls are also to be discovered, in vegetarian version, with trout or Serrano ham. For sweet tooths, choux filled with creams (Tahitian vanilla, salted butter caramel, milk chocolate, lemon meringue, tangerine, pear, coconut speculos, pistachio...) but also chouquettes, pastries such as paris-brest, saint-honoré or Fleur de sel. Maison Grimaud is also a tea room where you can have a coffee, a tea or a hot chocolate all day long. In addition to the quiet terrace, Maison Grimaud organizes brunches on Sundays with three new formulas (sweet, savory or both!) including the famous briochou: a good opportunity to come and enjoy the sweet and savory treats prepared by Sébastien. An address not to be missed.

LES RIGOLETTES NANTAISES

Confectionery
4.3/5
3 reviews

Inspired by the opera Rigoletto, the Nantes confectioner Charles Bohu had named his cat Rigolette in homage to the jester. The feline gave its name to the sweets invented in 1902, composed of a thin sugar shell steamed filled with fruit pulp and then frosted. The 5 original flavors are still there (lemon, tangerine, raspberry, blackcurrant and pineapple), completed by those with flowers (poppy, violet, rose, hibiscus), seasonal fruits (fig, grape), or salted butter caramel or praline. There is also a range of regional sweets, such as Berlingots, Ducs de Bretagne or Pavés nantais. Nice too this P'tit Rigolo with melting chocolate and salted butter caramel!

Anyone who does not know this venerable house has never been to La Baule! This candy shop has been an institution since 1937! All the children have come to get sweets in this beautiful shop overlooking the embankment. OLIVIER GRIMAULT

Chocolatier
4/5
1 review

A little way from the town center of Les Sorinières in the South of France, Olivier Grimault (OG) and his team have set up their gourmet laboratory here. What a sublime surprise to discover his creations of pure cocoa butter chocolate bonbons. With recipes as original as they are affordable. The boxed chocolates (platters) are a real eye-catcher, with their varied assortments and timeless, original flavors. We're talking about chocolates filled with refined ganaches, classic pralines and puff pastries, intense dark chocolates, varieties with a wide range of spices (pepper, vanilla) or refined flavors (tonka bean, lime, blackcurrant...). Everything is sublimated and blends well once transformed, accommodated in the hands of the master craftsman. Chocolates that invite us to travel, between Tanzania, Venezuela, Vietnam, Ghana, Papua New Guinea, Grenada... Try the Maen Hir speciality, a unique blend of 72% cocoa beans (from Santo Domingo and Mexico), or the Pavé soriniérois, a box of small chocolates with flaky praline and caramelized almonds. Indulge yourself with mendiants, grignotines, Crousty'nuts, Croq'télé or Crousty pop's. Olivier Grimault makes us melt with pleasure with homemade confectionery, fruit jellies, Taga'boum, Geli'fizz, marshmallows and other names that make young and old alike dream of indulgence. The spread here is called Goûter de Paco with milk and hazelnuts - a must! or the "flaky" version, or "caramel with fleur de sel", or the new "cocoa bean slivers". And don't forget to try Tatie Thalie's delicious sweetness.... Have you tried the new Soriniérois chocolate fondant? Divine dark chocolate to share and make people happy! Add to that the chocolate sculpting talents and chocolate courses, the super-reasonable prices, the warm welcome and the free parking, and you'll know why this place is well worth a visit! Don't forget the "food truck glacier" for your events, whether professional or private, which is available for sweet and original desserts or snacks! Speaking of ice creams, here they're 100% homemade and to die for! Chocolate mint, macadamia vanilla... Iced verrines with tangy flavors, evasion, Montélimar, are original desserts to offer! New in 2021, for chocolate addicts, subscription formulas for sweet boxes: "la Créat ' Box" for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months, with a box representing a patchwork of homemade sweets - you should have thought of that! Taste our new products: Manabi 72.5% le Cameroun 71% and 100% grands crus!

ESTHÈTE PÂTISSIER

Patisserie

1 review

Since its opening in June 2019, the craze for this fine patisserie has continued to spread... The clientele that throngs behind its tempting window display has made it a sure bet. Julien Merceron, the pastry chef from the Ritz, and Gérard Porte, the artisan florist, cultivate art and beauty. Here, everything awakens the senses: pretty cakes titillate the eyes, tickle the nostrils and delight the taste buds. We're eager to discover the new 2023 cakes, such as Mathilda's apricot and almond cake, or the strawberry-basil tart. You'll love the melt-in-your-mouth flavors of Pain d'épices au miel et chocolat, and the seasonal freshness of Tarte aux agrumes et kasha. What a pleasure it is to watch these marvels being made live through the laboratory windows, from which delicious caramelized aromas emanate! We salute the eco-responsible approach of working with rigorously selected seasonal products, most of them local. In addition to the divine pastries, you'll be tempted by other delicacies like the appetizing chocolate bars, such as the crunchy one topped with caramelized pistachios or the exquisite one with candied oranges. And let's not forget a few delicatessen products: jams, ciders, wines, teas and coffees... Let yourself be carried away by the aestheticism of these artists... as if on a swing..

DESLANDES BOULANGERIE

Bread cakes chocolates ice cream
3.7/5
3 reviews

The Maison Deslandes, are two excellent bakeries in the east of Nantes: one at the foot of the church of Toutes-Aides, the other on the road to Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire. Jacques Deslandes, this baker-pastry cook, from father to son, succeeds in associating traditional know-how and creativity. Here you can enjoy breads, focaccias, pastries, sweets and chocolates. Whether it is the Tradition bread, the chef's baguette, or the Heloise, baked throughout the day, quality is at the rendezvous. You can choose among the special breads: ciabatta, fig, corn, walnut, Nordique (malt flour, rye sourdough, barley, wheat, yellow flax, brown flax) and for the holidays: the Stollen (brioche bread with raisins, almonds, candied lemon). Wholemeal, cereal or woodcutter breads are also available. The Deslandes house also offers pastries that are as beautiful as they are delicious, such as the marbled squares, puffed and crunchy granules coated with chocolate or caramel. Crack open the Craquelet and its three chocolates or the Croquant (chocolate cookie, vanilla heart, dark chocolate and Plougastel cookie with nougatine), without forgetting the Délice aux fruits rouges (almond cookie, crunchy, vanilla cream, muroise, flaky praline) or the classic and formidable Gâteau nantais. You can prefer the reductions (miniature pastries) or the mignardises, fruit sweets (kiwi, red fruits, lemon, pineapple, orange) or chocolate! In addition to this wide choice, made difficult by the quality of the products, there are macaroons (about ten flavors), new apple squares, chocolates, beggars, florentines which also complete the palette of this pastry-baker-chocolatier. For the catering part, the Deslandes house offers a nice range of special sandwiches (chicken, chicken curry, Nordic chicken, Nordic salmon, ham and cheese, tuna, Serrano ham, vegetarian, cheddar, dried tomatoes... in the bread of your choice) and the "pièces montées" for private events.

LITTLE BRITAIN CAFE

It is a charming piece of England that has taken its place near the Parc du Grand Blottereau, a sweet taste of England, our English friends will say. And this sweet taste of England is skillfully created by Steve and Laëtitia, two cooks who manage perfectly to make us travel across the Channel without leaving Nantes. Steve is English and Laëtitia, his wife who officiates in the dining room, has lived for many years in England where she gleaned her mother-in-law's recipes. Today, they adapt the recipes and make a number of succulent, typically English pastries: millionaires (biscuit, caramel, chocolate), two chocolate brownies, lemon meringue tart, cheesecakes, light banofee, lemon curd muffin, scones, pear-hazelnut-chocolate cake, carrot cake... It's a real treat! At Christmas time, don't hesitate to taste the mince pies (magic tarts of which only a few ingredients are delivered here: raisins, apples, oranges, lemons, almonds and cognac). For your receptions, parties or brunches, you can also call on their catering service, personalised according to your desires. Finally, there are plenty of fine products in the delicatessen: organic jams from the jam garden in Vritz, coffees roasted by "Un Grain une Feuille" in Carquefou... a so sweet address! The tea-pastry shop also has a restaurant for lunch, and coffee, 3-in-1!

CHARCUTERIE MOULINEAU – LE ROI DU BOUDIN

Butchery
5/5
4 reviews

The Moulineau house has made itself a name! And it's written on: the boudin is its specialty, and it's certainly one of the best if not the best. It should be said that the Moulineau are butchers for more than years. Unfortunately, there are no longer many of them in Vendée who are true craftsmen of the taste and authenticity that manufacture their own products. And we deplore it! Moreover, Bernard and his son Pascal are fiercely defenders of the artisan tradition for whom the word quality still has meaning, which delights our taste buds. The boutique, located next to La Pataterie restaurant, proposes: black boudin, pluck, ham, guts… made according to the tradition of yesteryear. You will find them on the markets of L'Stimulus-sur-Mer, La Tranche-sur-Mer and that of La Roche.

Debotté, a Nantes institution for three generations, a must for visitors, and still loved by the people of Nantes! The store on the Quai de la Fosse still amazes with its woodwork, chandeliers, friezes and scales classified as national heritage. Today, the two brothers have taken over: if Gérald is the chocolate maker, Josselin is the pastry chef. They have collected and preserved the paternal secrets of these strong and refined chocolates whose aromas seem to be part of the decor. Among the specialties of the house, the Mascaron, a dark chocolate rock filled with a crunchy praline and milk chocolate puff, created at the time when these mythological figures bloomed on rich facades to ward off evil spirits! Its magical power still seduces gourmets... Among the new products, try the Espelette pepper ganache with its heart of strawberry jelly, the 4 flavors sticks and the matcha tea chocolate. You will also find the famous berlingots from Nantes, and the Muscadet nantais which combines marinated grapes and dark chocolate. Josselin has inherited the family gift. His "pièce montée" is soft and light. You can taste his macaroons, Nantes cakes and other delicacies in the salons of the rue de Budapest or the rue Crébillon. Don't forget to buy your tea and coffee in the store on rue Copernic. And from now on, Debotté's homemade bread is also a beautiful baguette to take away! And in 2022 new ! the Mascaron pie is born : Breton shortbread, Mascaron with hazelnuts (Piedmont), dark chocolate ganache and dark chocolate plate ! Several formats exist, in stores or on order. On the outskirts of Nantes, just a stone's throw from the Loire, you may be lucky enough to enter Philippe's shed, where he is passionate about his orchard and vegetable garden. His only master is the seasons, which punctuate his fruit and vegetable production. His working philosophy is not to rush nature. His agriculture is sustainable. At the Bellevue orchards, you'll find apples, pears and kiwis all year round, while the vegetables vary according to the season. Every autumn, Philippe offers tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, carrots and turnips. Radishes and lettuces come from a neighboring producer. You'll also find processed products made entirely in-house: apple and apple-pear juices. Finally, every Wednesday afternoon, a farmer comes to sell his produce: eggs, poultry and pork. The welcome is warm and the prices very competitive. Bellevue orchards supply many of the local restaurants, a guarantee of quality!

One of Nantes' Fraiseraie shops is located near the Gaumont cinema in the town centre. So, no need to go to Pornic to taste the star sorbet of the king of strawberries. Go to Place de la Bourse and create your favourite blend by choosing from about thirty flavours. You can also trust the house and ask for a marbled ball, a combination of two sorbets that complement each other perfectly. You will have to pass the hesitation of a few moments between the cone and the cup, even if it does not matter the container as long as you have the ice cream! After such a trying adventure, get back on the road and, with sweetness in hand, taunt the envious ones who can only eat with their eyes the coloured freshness (but without colouring) that finally sustains you. La Fraiseraie also offers products to eat at home: sorbets to take away, jams, jellies, syrups, liqueurs, arranged rums, flavoured teas... Because good things should be shared! At lunchtime, the bakery also offers a snacking service.

Le Curé nantais is a real institution in the region. In the shop, a selection of about sixty cheeses from all over France, as well as Bordier butters, regional products and a very nice cellar (about 600 wines, 150 whiskies, 50 rums). Other creations include the Petit Fumé and the Curé nantais samosa, available in 3 recipes. LE PETIT CASINO

In the heart of the city, we only saw Markets Plus set up here and there, all past Carrefour City since. The competitor, well present in Angers through large areas, was eager to share the trade cake of proximity and this Little Casino mystery alone on the corner of the great boulevards. The tram now serves it, in this neighbourhood without food stores, if it is not place of the Visitation. In the meantime, it's nice to be able to go shopping without car or simply to buy the forgotten butter carton in this pleasant shop.

It is here, in the factory not far from this store, that the famous round, crunchy, golden cake was born, one of the gastronomic emblems of the region! We owe the history of this mythical cake to Joseph Grellier, a baker who kept the family recipe. It is honored in this store of 200 m², with tea room and terrace. Galettes, Roudor palets and other sablés de Retz, Michelettes, are in good place. In the tea room, accompany your tasting with a madeleine or more elaborate pastries. No visit of the factory possible.

Edmond Guillet founded the Kerisac cider factory in 1920. It has been a family business for four generations. The spirit of the company is to preserve the traditional aspect of cider while rejuvenating the tastes. The Guillet brothers are among the pioneers of the cider revival in Brittany. Here they produce IGP Bretagne ciders (regularly awarded at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris), brut, demi-sec and sweet ciders. Among the house's must-haves, you will find "Le Kerisac de glace", a fruity and refined sweet aperitif, or the rosé cider.

LES DELICES DE THAÏS

Market gardeners

Thai delicacies are a family story that gradually fits around common values such as engagement (part of the exploitation will become organic), dedication (fresh and high quality products), transparency, originality and family, then it's not less than four generations that contribute to the smooth running of this. store. To be more precise, Thai delicacies are a store where fresh fruit and vegetable lovers come from. Fresh and original vegetables, as it is also possible to find atypical vegetables (on pre-order), like mini-vegetables, food flowers or germs, especially in the air of time. We obviously buy home crops, but also a whole selection of groceries (dried fruits, creeds, spreads, wines, juice…), local to the extent possible. A small selection of very affordable wines (3.50 € to 9.90 €) and the cheese chosen by Pascal Beillevaire. Once a week, "Kitchen is yours" proposes a playful and original concept: every volunteer can offer a simple recipe prepared from seasonal products and prepared on the spot at the entrance of the sales area. A delicious way to occupy a Saturday morning! Children are not there and several ranks are already reserved for the grocery store for an initiation to gardening, which promises these apprentices tasty discoveries at the time of gathering. The dynamism and friendliness of the team make Thai Delights a precious address, especially for gourmets who encounter some difficulties in getting cold bowl and other tubéous capucine…

Brigitte, Philippe and their son Dylan's salt works consists of 118 carnations. They produce coarse salt and fleur de sel (plain and flavoured) and, depending on the year, salicorne. To vary your dishes, season them with fleur de sel with lemon, ginger, 5 berries, chilli pepper, curry, basil... If you want to know everything about the life of the saunier, the history of salt, how it is harvested, how it is preserved..., Dylan has no equal to captivate his audience.

This boutique showcases the original creations of Thuriès. This chocolatier-harvester is a former Companion of the Tour de France, MOF pastry chef-chocolatier-confiseur and ice-cream maker. Here, gourmets discover chocolates made with cocoa from plantations in San Fernando (Ecuador) and the South-West. We love the variety of the chocolates. Fruity, floral, dark, milk, etc. The store's Truffelines (a base of crêpe dentelle and praline), Bouchons (dark praline chocolate bonbons) and Noisirons (confectionery with honey, candied fruit and hazelnuts) are also very appealing. But we're also looking forward to other delights, such as demi-macarons, caramel, pralines and spreads. Something for everyone!

THE BOULANGERY

Bread cakes chocolates ice cream
5/5
1 review

The Boulangery is a bakery-pastry-sandwich shop in Thouaré. So far, nothing surprising then. Except that... Christophe Jamet, the baker, had a desire for change and wanted to create an establishment in his own image. In 2011, when he bought this bakery, the decoration was rather traditional and did not resemble him. But at the time he had other concerns than the style of his store. A fan of rock and metal, he participates in many festivals and meets, through his musical experiences, several architects and decorators. The project of The Boulangery nouvelle version was thus born of a passion for music, of encounters and the will to shape a bakery that resembles him. And as far as the setting is concerned, you won't be disappointed! For his new style, Christophe chose a rock-metal-chic decor, with rust and black tones. And for the fast food part, here too the change is radical and, to say the least, original and successful. For an unusual lunch break, you will indeed have the possibility to eat in a fitted container (and heated in winter), installed in front of the shop. And that's not all: this container is enhanced by an old baker's truck. A real one! On the taste buds side now, Christophe and his team do everything themselves, including the snacking. Sandwiches, burgers, hot dishes (such as Greek-style chicken, turkey with mustard...) are offered every lunchtime. Christophe presents a selection of pastries that change every week, mainly "travel" pastries, easy to eat on the go and easy to transport, such as pies and éclairs. Viennese pastries are tempting and specialities for the holidays (logs, galettes...) are on the menu! And as for bread, the bakery changed its recipes at the end of 2019 and switched to B as organic: country, Nordic, wholemeal, seed pie and my father's pie have gone green. Run there, the welcome of Marie and her team is charming!

NATURALIS EPICERIE BIO

Bulk grocery

1 review

The managers of this pretty organic grocery store and tea room in the Saint-Joseph-de-Porterie neighborhood, Thomas Lefebvre and his Nepalese companion Chukki Lefebvre, have the art of unearthing local products. Orchards of the Farm in cider, bakery Panisfaire and Brewery of L'Olifant of Grandchamp-les-Fontaines, ice creams and sorbets of Sucé-sur-Erdre, for the local flavors, the exotic perfumes are also very present. Thanks to Chukki's cooking, you can taste white rice noodles with Timur pepper. Bulk, fruits, fresh vegetables..., you can find everything in the grocery store including organic products, at low prices. Naturalis is also committed to the fight against food waste.
