LA P'TITE SOUPE

Cannery

Emmanuel Moreau, a fervent defender of short circuits, created La Petite Soupe in 2021. We like the spirit: artisanal production, originality of soups and spreads, and all this with as few intermediaries as possible between the producer and the consumer, favouring local and organic products. He produces tasty soups with original flavors. We fell in love with the delicious mogette/peanut soup and the Coffee Pot with its original combination of pumpkin and coffee. 100% vegetable products! Discover the foügra vendéen (mogette spreadable), ideal on a toast.

Bakery

With its chocolate/pistachio facade topped by a mill tower, it's impossible to miss Séverine and David Seigneur's boulangerie-pâtisserie. It has a retro look, with beautiful stalls of varied, appetizing cakes. Another original feature, apart from the bakers working in the bakery before your very eyes, is a retro van stamped "Moulin Gourmand", displaying entremets. Bread is baked all day long, and there's also a snack range. Among the pastries, try one of the specialties, baba.

LA DUCHESSE ANNE

Patisserie
4.7/5
3 reviews
Open - Close in 10 minutes

Founded in 1842, the Duchess Anne is a gourmet institution, for the fine mouths of Saumur and Clisson. In a soft and refined setting, in a vintage 19th century style, the small tea room, with its modest but delicate atmosphere, often sees its tables taken over by the people of Saumur, so well suited is it to the delight of a sweet break, such as a pastry or homemade chocolate. For 25 years, the Godineau family has been in charge; in 2010, the parents left the keys to the house to their son, François, and his wife, Céline. In this way, the tradition is perpetuated, while quality is always present. To be convinced, just try the macaroons and other chocolates, the creations of individual or family cakes as well as the divine Christmas logs, you will quickly know why! Viennese pastries and petits fours are also excellent: something to satisfy all tastes. Another good point is the reasonable prices charged, especially for the quality of the products. Everything is in place to have a good time.

MAİSON ARLOT CHENG

Organic store

There were few bakeries in this part of the island of Nantes. In the summer of 2019, thanks to the generosity of Internet users and to the delight of lovers of good bread, La Maison Boulangerie was born. It is in this luminous and rough waxed concrete setting that Pierre-Antoine Arlot, Chin-Jy Cheng and their team of passionate baristas, bakers and pastry cooks are busy. Graduated as an organic artisan baker at the International School of Baking, Pierre-Antoine has worked in beautiful houses throughout Europe. At La Maison, the bread is artisanal, organic, leavened and made on slow fermenting millstone flour. As for the coffees, they are roasted by Allpress, percolator and gentle extraction. The teas are selected by Patchouli & Co., a Nantes-based tea-springer. In the shop window, the breads are beautiful and the crumbs delicate. On the premises, the coffees are tasted and processed according to the rules of the art. In the heart of the creative district, delicacies inspired by international traditions will give you inspiration!

LA BESTIOLE

Craft brewery and microbrewery

What's the link between a bug and a brewery? A passion: for animals and for the art of brewing beer. Passionate, the owner and brewer knows her stuff. You can enjoy a fruity beer of between 3 and 8% alcohol in the tape room (bar area), with a direct view of the vats. You can also take away some pretty labeled cans (with animals on them, of course). And if you want to know everything there is to know about the beer-making process, we recommend a visit, which of course ends with a tasting.

CHAMEAU TRAITEUR - LES 5 SENS

Delicatessen

For real gourmets, coming out of this shop the empty basket is almost a challenge! Camel Delicatessen/Les 5 Sens (formerly the charcuterie de la Visitation) has not only one of the most extensive charcuterie departments in the city, but also of impeccable quality: dry Corsican hams, ham on the bone, homemade white ham, chicken rillettes, grandmother pâté with poultry liver... The ready-made meals section also makes you salivate with its forest guinea fowl legs, its old-fashioned pork tenderloin, asparagus risotto or crispy rabbit with prunes. But what is most appealing here is the originality and finesse of the cold preparations, worthy of a real gourmet restaurant: a zucchini bodega with smoked salmon and fresh cheese, a thousand Tian-style vegetable leaves, sweet potato puree with hazelnuts, quinoa and speck nuggets. Sweet tooth lovers can enjoy an amazing Kumquat-yuzu cream (a small citrus fruit of Asian origin) or a caramel milk mousse, cashew nuts, crushed hazelnuts and its cream. Great art!

LA FERME GOURMANDE

Specialized grocery
Open - Close in 10 minutes

It was in March 2020 in Carquefou that the young farmer Alexis Chauvelon created his gourmet farm. This young market gardener grows carrots, potatoes, chard, courgettes, aubergines, tomatoes and strawberries in a reasoned way... Located between the chicken and goat pen and the market garden greenhouses, this new wooden building houses a shop that offers various quality farm products direct from producers, most of them local. The fruit and vegetables are grown using integrated farming methods and the aim is to convert to organic farming in the future. We love the Comice pears from Carquefou, the Fuji apples and the yellow kiwis from Saint-Julien-de-Concelles, the XXL version of quinces (with a recipe for a pie as a bonus!), for this anthology of cucurbits, for these sweet potatoes... In addition to the fresh produce, you will find beef from the Guillauminerie du Gaec le Bois Guillaume in Ligné, but also poultry from the Ferme des Marais in Haute-Goulaine and pork from the Ferme de Bel-Air in La Meilleraye-de-Bretagne as well as from the Maison Bodet in Le Landreau. A dairy section with eggs from Bio Divatte, farm dairy products from the Pays Guérandais from the Mézerac farm and ice cream from the Ferme du Blanc Verger in Sucé-sur-Erdre. You will also appreciate the abundant grocery store where gourmet products all as tempting as each other are mixed together: coffees, teas, honeys from Frédéric Hermann of Couëron and Ferme de la Pénoue of Petit-Mars, jams from Ferme du Bouffay, compote, porridge and vegan cookies from Vahina of Trentemoult, Des Épices à ma guise items from Ancenis, west Spiruline from Carquefou, soups from the Conserverie des saveurs, bagged legumes from Gaec Le Parpounet, vinegar and cider from Landes du Luquet... As you will have noticed, La Ferme Gourmande lives up to its name! In the summer of 2021, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and vegetables will be picked, and a workshop will be set up to transform the crops into jams, ice creams and soups...

Here you can find good bread kneaded on the spot, wholemeal, spelt, seeded, traditional or seeded balls and baguettes. You will love the homemade tarts, raspberry passion, amandine, lemon meringue or flan. You can also enjoy the chocolate eclairs, hazelnut, caramel and salted butter or, depending on the season, lemon or other natural flavors! Run by 3 partners, all wine experts or oenologists, their cellar is all about quantity, but above all, quality. 95% natural wines to taste on the premises or to take away. They also produce their own wine: the grapes are harvested in the vineyards of Nantes and Anjou, and then vinified by their partner l'Agronaute. The dining room is also very pleasant, with its mezzanine and great outdoor courtyard, ideal for a stroll in summer. And let's not forget their great program (concerts, exhibitions, DJ sets) and local produce, such as Painbar bread and Vendeen ham. A real treat!

Not far from the remains of the ramparts and Anne de Bretagne's castle, just opposite the cathedral, is the red front of La Trinitaine in Nantes. In this store, where the wood of the beams rubs shoulders with the stone of the granite pillars, it's a veritable paradise for gourmets and lovers of the Breton terroir. You'll find a wide variety of both savory and sweet Breton specialties, from the Pointe du Raz to the Pays nantais. You'll find, for example, those beautiful colored or painted boxes that some of us's grandmothers used to grab from the buffet at coffee time, and which contain the tasty, and famous, Breton butter galettes. But galettes aren't the only thing on La Trinitaine's shelves: kouign-amann, sablés, madeleines... try dark or milk chocolate buckwheat cookies. But also confectionery: berlingots nantais, salted butter caramels, Salidou cream, Coucougnettes (roasted almonds) or Niniches (Quiberon lollipops). On the savoury side, it's all about gourmet ideas, with a wide choice of preserves and other preparations (tuna, sardines) as well as fish soups, products from Belle Iloise or Guérande salt, buckwheat potato chips, Crousti Breizh, or buckwheat caramel.... A corner is devoted to speciality drinks: nantillais, cider, chouchen, pommeau, liqueurs, beers... Beautiful jams are among the many delicacies on offer, including the Bois Jumel brand and its delicious flavours. And don't forget to check out the new boxes designed by B. Morinay. Last but not least, admire the earthenware tableware and textiles featuring the famous Bécassine. This is the ideal corner for gift ideas all year round! And don't forget the chocolate, vanilla or raspberry Trinibeurre.

The Palace of Teas has been a long-standing artist… Its founder, François Xavier Delmas, has been touring plantations around the world in search of the best wines for 25 years. From Darjeeling to Shizuoka, from Taiwan to the Golden Triangle, he invites us to take advantage of his know-how, and to share his encounters and emotions… With his team, they also created original blends, such as the very popular Tea of the Monks (a unique blend of green and black tea, according to an ancestral recipe found in a Tibetan monastery), and the famous Tea of the Hammam, to be tasted hot. or icy throughout the day (this is a Turkish recipe, based on green tea, pink parfumé, green date, red fruits and orange flower.). The Palace of Teas, of course, offers the classic classic wines "nature" and for the amateurs, few rare and ephemeral vintages, which last the time of a harvest. It's also difficult to resist the pretty choice of Japanese and Chinese crafts (cast teapots, fine porcelain bowls, fine cracked boxes…). A real moment of pleasure.

This pastry shop in the heart of the pedestrian street, created several decades ago and in which three generations of pastry chefs have succeeded one another. The owners, who have been in place for about 3 years, are pastry chefs by trade and have kept the emblematic speciality created by their predecessors: the Saint-Philbert cake! This is not the only delicacy you will find here, since at Easter time, the flan maraîchin is on the stall, as are the pastries of the moment, between chocolate or fruit cakes, and chocolates.

Olivier Hodebert, finalist of the World Winery Championship in 2003 and 2005, is the happy patron of the Cellar of the Inawaa in Vertou. Its team and it open the doors of this cellar to the 1,000 treasures. A fine wine proposal that he has all tasted himself, demands and professional conscience oblige. The proposed bottles were selected directly from the producer. For Olivier, wine is first and foremost the man and the land that gives it. This friendly and affordable place is perfect for discovering French and foreign treasures. The staff were very friendly and helpful. To note, the cellar of the Inwait is also a very good restaurant.

MARCHÉS

Market

Place du Maréchal Joffre (commonly known as "Place du Marché") is home to not only the best fresh produce stalls on the Peninsula, but also all kinds of items and clothing from the most classic to the most unusual. The Pornichet market has nearly 100 stalls in winter and 200 in summer. It is one of the largest markets in the destination La Baule-Presqu'île de Guérande, known from the bay of La Baule to South Brittany via Saint-Nazaire and Brière. Among the edible sellers, organic is well represented, with vegetables, but also bread, poultry, milk and cheese. If you like goats, an organic producer with a hat and long hair sells the best and cheapest in the region. An arborist will also supply you with many varieties of exceptional organic apples. Meat, seafood and oysters are not to be missed inside the halls. In summer, you will also find souvenir sellers. You can also enjoy an excellent little nutmeg at the bar once your basket is full. It is recommended to come early or risk impressive tails at the popular stalls. Another market, in the Sainte-Marguerite district, from mid-June to early September. As for the halls, they are open every summer morning to supply you with fresh produce!

DERVAL MOISE

Today, a trade that crosses half-century, it applies all labels, all certificates, all the medals possible! This is the case of bakery-chocolate-bakery Derval, which is a greedy institution in Laval. This is due in large part to the talent of chocolate of the boss, who did not just take over the shop of his father (also nickname Moses), but always showed a keen interest in innovation, risk-taking (he bought two other signs, on Laval and Changed). For the new recipes of chocolates too! Like Pegasus Hooves, which have belonged for several years to the gastronomic heritage of the department of Mayenne…
