Don't miss this amazing parish church whose interior walls are covered with azulejos. Its painted ceiling highlights the altarpiece and the nave is covered with splendid brutesco style coffers. According to historians, the baroque decoration of the whole was completed in 1726. Historians are also convinced that the tiles came from Lisbon, because at that time no local craftsman could have produced them. The visit ends in one of the buildings adjoining the church where a small museum of sacred art is hidden.

Built in 1491, it was designed by Boytac, the architect of the Jerónimos monastery in Belém. It is also called the church of the monastery of Jesus, a convent for nuns of the order of Poor Clares built in 1490 outside the city walls. It is one of the first Manueline style buildings with the superb twisted marble columns of the Arrábida. The 18th century azulejos that decorate the walls of the nave illustrate scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary.

Built by Joao I in 1425, this church was completed in 1446. It bears the influences of the different periods that followed, romanesque, Gothic, neoclassical... Note the gothic portal and rose window from the 18th century at its summit.

This church was built by an Italian architect in the Renaissance in xvi^e century. It is covered with azulejos both on its façade (xix^e century) and inside (xvi^e century). Note its magnificent gate sculpted according to the style of the school of Coimbra early xvi^e century.

The cathedral is rather exciting, except for the statue of Christ used for processions. Just behind the cathedral, you will be quite bewitched by the driveway of a small cemetery of large vaults dominating the Central Canal.

Inaugurated in 2007 on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the apparitions in Fatima, this white church is located in front of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary. Very modern, it has pure architectural lines: it has no interior pillars but rests on two large transverse beams. In the basement, you can discover several chapels with minimalist decoration where mosaics by contemporary Portuguese artists are drawn along the exterior walls.
